Time: 9:30 pm – 12:00 pm
Mosaic knitting is a very easy method of creating complicated looking patterns with two colours while working only one colour at a time. It’s a great way to build on your knitting skills without anxiety.
In this class, you will learn mosaic knitting worked flat and in the round. We will be making a set of coasters with samples of different mosaic stitches.
A basic knowledge of knitting stitches is required (casting on and off, knit stitch, slipping stitches – a knowledge of stranded knitting is NOT required).
Workshop Fee: $45
Materials Fee: NA
Materials to Bring:
1. 100g of two solid contrasting colours in a smooth worsted weight yarn (50g of each colour); any natural fibre can be used (variegated or acrylic yarns are not recommended)
2. Set of 4.5 mm needles (straight or circular – any length)
3. Scrap yarn and darning needle or large stitch holders
Please note: The suggested materials are just suggestions – if you have a DK or aran weight yarn you want to use, that’s fine, but please adjust your needle size accordingly. Also, if you would like multi-coloured coasters, you can bring in various “leftovers” from your stash.
The yarn used by the instructor is Ultra Alpaca from Berroco in colours black (6245) and ecru (6201). Each coaster uses approx. 8 g of each colour.
